Vin Diesel has officially confirmed that the Fast & Furious universe is heading to television in a major way. During NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, Diesel revealed that four live-action series inspired by the blockbuster franchise are currently in development.
One of the projects is reportedly being developed for Peacock, while the remaining series are in different stages of production under Universal Television.
Diesel will executive produce the expanding TV franchise alongside longtime Fast & Furious producers Neal Moritz, Chris Morgan, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Pavun Shetty. The pilot script is being written by Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman, who previously collaborated on the NBC drama Shades of Blue.
While specific story details remain under wraps, Diesel shared that expanding the franchise into television has been a long-term goal driven by fan demand for deeper stories centered around legacy characters. He also noted that NBCUniversal executive Donna Langley helped convince him the franchise’s global appeal and family-driven themes would be protected on the small screen.
The Fast & Furious franchise continues to be one of Hollywood’s biggest global brands, generating more than $7 billion worldwide across 11 films. The series will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year with a special screening of the original film at the Cannes Film Festival. The final chapter, Fast Forever, is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2028.
