Natural State follows Conway Hattchett, a young man who inherits his family’s land and is targeted by a ruthless rival family. When his father is murdered, he must confront his morals and make a life-or-death choice at the barrel of a gun. Directed by award-winning filmmaker and educator Allen Mays and set in modern-day Arkansas, Natural State takes the audience on a journey to answer one simple question: “How much of yourself are you willing to lose to protect your family?” Western films aren’t only about cowboys, horses, and guns; they are also about the endurance of the human spirit. We believe Natural State has the potential to resonate on the national festival circuit, particularly due to the success of recent films such as The Harder They Fall, Concrete Cowboy, and Nope.
