Award-Winning Play, ‘Proof’ Starring Ayo Edebiri And Don Cheadle Is Now In Previews On Broadway
Emmy winner Ayo Edebiri and Golden Globe winner Don Cheadle are set to make their Broadway debuts in the new revival of Proof, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by David Auburn. The production also stars Kara Young and Jin Ha, with direction from Tony winner Thomas Kail.
The story follows Catherine, a gifted but emotionally conflicted young woman dealing with the death of her father, Robert, a brilliant mathematician whose legacy leaves behind more questions than answers. When a notebook containing a potentially groundbreaking proof is uncovered, Catherine is pulled into a tense battle over truth, ownership, and whether her own brilliance will ever be fully recognized.
This new staging marks Proof’s first return to Broadway in years, bringing renewed attention to its themes of genius, family, mental health, and self-worth.
The production began previews on March 31, 2026, officially opens April 16, and is scheduled to run through July 19, 2026. The play runs 2 hours and 10 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission, with eight performances each week.
