Shannan chooses to introduce her feature screenplay, The Weight of Silence to Hollywood by inviting a small group of execs into the world of Houston’s Black rodeo culture, a culture introduced to her by her late father, Sidney “Sid the Cowboy” Johnson.
Logline: After her estranged father, a revered Black cowboy, is murdered in a string of serial decapitations, Kennedy, a sharp, guarded butcher returns home to bury him and get the hell out of Houston, only to be pulled into an investigation that reignites a toxic love triangle and exposes the buried family secret she’s spent her life running from.
