CBS is making a major late-night shift following the end of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The network will hand over its 11:35 p.m. ET post-news slot to Byron Allen through a time-buy agreement that runs through the 2026–2027 TV season.
With Colbert’s final episode set for May 21, Allen will move Comics Unleashed into the 11:35 p.m. hour, airing back-to-back episodes. He will also keep his current 12:37 a.m. slot with Funny You Should Ask.
The Late Show franchise has been a CBS staple since 1993, first launched by David Letterman and later taken over by Stephen Colbert in 2015. Its upcoming finale will officially close out more than three decades of the late-night brand.
Allen said the move reflects his long-running goal of giving comedians a platform, while expanding his comedy presence on the network. Comics Unleashed, which originally ran in syndication from 2006 to 2016, recently returned with new episodes for the 2025–2026 season. Meanwhile, Funny You Should Ask, hosted by Jon Kelley, has remained a syndicated staple since its 2017 debut.
