Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for Susanna White’s upcoming drama ‘Prima Facie,’ starring three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo. The film is an adaptation of Suzie Miller’s Olivier Award-winning 2019 play of the same name.
The story centers on Tessa (Erivo), a brilliant defense attorney known for representing men accused of sexual assault. Her life and career unravel when she is sexually assaulted by a colleague, forcing her to seek justice within a legal system that suddenly challenges her deepest beliefs.
The ensemble supporting cast includes Noma Dumezweni, Toheeb Jimoh, Sarah Junillon, Daniel Ings, Simon Russell Beale, Elizabeth Dulau, and more.
‘Prima Facie’ is produced by Greer Simpkin and David Jowsey for Bunya Productions alongside Kevin Loader for Embankment. Erivo executive produces alongside Solome Williams, director Susanna White, and playwright Suzie Miller.
The film is set for a theatrical release in the UK and Ireland on November 13. A U.S. distribution strategy has yet to be announced, with UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance co-representing sales.
