What begins as a spontaneous road trip between siblings takes a sinister turn in Push It, the pilot episode of Drapetomania. When Imani and Sean find themselves trapped in a motel where time seems distorted and memories begin to slip away, they must confront their fears of growing apart. Blending psychological horror, dark comedy, and social commentary, Push It explores familial relationships, the realities of traveling while Black, and the bittersweet transition from childhood innocence to adulthood.
Drapetomania is a anthology thriller where every episode explores the trapped conversations of the psychological, spiritual, and social realities that Black adults face when navigating freedom, identity, and survival in their twenties. Basically, “Is this really happening to me?””The title “DRAPETOMANIA” intentionally reclaims the historical term once used as a false diagnosis assigned to enslaved Black people who sought freedom. A weapon used to categorize us as insane or crazy for seeking freedom. The use of the title is rooted in irony and reclamation, reflecting themes of liberation, identity, self-definition, and generational change.
