The official release date has been set for Gina Prince-Bythewood’s highly anticipated rendition of ‘Children of Blood and Bone.’ Paramount Pictures confirmed the news with a teaser shared to its Instagram, announcing the film will arrive in theaters and IMAX on January 15, 2027.
The film is an adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s 2018 debut novel and New York Times bestseller of the same name, the first installment in the ‘Legacy of Orïsha’ trilogy.
The ensemble cast includes Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, and Tosin Cole. The young adult fantasy follows Zélie (Mbedu) and her older brother Tzain (Cole) as they join forces with Princess Amari (Stenberg) and Prince Inan (Idris), the king’s children, to rise up against his oppressive rule and restore magic to their kingdom.
The film also stars Viola Davis as Mama Agba, Cynthia Erivo as Admiral Kaea, Idris Elba as Lekan, Lashana Lynch as Jumoke, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as King Saran. Regina King, Diaana Babnicova, and Bukky Bakray were reportedly in talks to join the cast as Queen Nehanda, Folake, and Binta, respectively.
Stay tuned for more updates on ‘Children of Blood and Bones.’
