HBO has officially ordered ‘Untitled Male Friendship Show,’ a half-hour comedy pilot written and executive produced by Issa Rae.
According to the official logline, the pilot follows Menzel, a 30-year-old barber, aspiring sports manager, and professional best friend to JB, an up-and-coming boxer, as they navigate ambition, insecurity, loneliness, and the double-edged sword of success within the high-stakes world of professional boxing in Las Vegas.
Rae is reuniting with her ‘Insecure’ collaborator Prentice Penny, who will serve as showrunner, executive producer, and pilot director. Jax Clark executive produces for Hoorae alongside Penny for A Penny For Your Thoughts, with Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky executive producing for 3 Arts Entertainment.
