Husband-Wife Duo, K.D. And Chris Chalk Set Short Film, 'Bless The Telephone' To World Premiere At Raindance Film Festival
LONDON, UK — Bless the Telephone, the latest short film from writer/director K.D. Chalk, has been announced as an Official Selection of the 2026 Raindance Film Festival. The Columbia University MFA film project will make its world premiere in London with screenings on June 22 and June 24.
Set against the backdrop of post-hurricane Helene, Asheville, North Carolina, Bless the Telephone follows two estranged parents traveling parallel emotional paths on their son’s fifth birthday. Their unexpected reunion forces them to confront the fragile possibility of reconnection and asks whether love can survive what loss leaves behind.
The film stars Chris Chalk, known for his work in IT: Welcome to Derry, Perry Mason, and 12 Years a Slave. Bless the Telephone marks a fourth creative collaboration between husband-and-wife filmmaking team. K.D. Chalk and Chris Chalk bring an added intimacy and emotional honesty to the story.
“Bless the Telephone is a film about the ache of trying to return to someone after life has altered you both,” said K.D. Chalk. “It asks what remains when people can no longer love each other in the same way they once did.”
The Raindance Film Festival is one of the world’s leading independent film festivals, known for championing bold and distinctive voices in international cinema. The inclusion of Bless the Telephone marks the film’s official world premiere.
