Ice Cube And Nia Long Reuniting For ‘Are They Gone Yet?’ As Third ‘Are We There Yet?’ Film Lands At Skydance Sports
Two decades after audiences first met Nick and Suzanne, Ice Cube and Nia Long are reuniting for ‘Are They Gone Yet?’, the latest chapter in the ‘Are We There Yet?’ franchise. The new film will see Nick Persons face his biggest challenge yet: becoming a grandfather.
Released in 2005, ‘Are We There Yet?’ followed Nick as he drove his crush Suzanne’s children, Lindsey (Aleisha Allen) and Kevin (Philip Daniel Bolden), across the country in hopes of winning her heart. The 2007 sequel, ‘Are We Done Yet?’, found the newly blended family settling into suburban life, where their dream home renovation spiraled into chaos thanks to eccentric contractor Chuck Mitchell Jr. (John C. McGinley).
Now, Ice Cube and Long are set to return for the franchise’s third film, which is currently in early development at Skydance Sports.
Ice Cube expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming project, saying, “We built something special with this franchise. Audiences grew up with Nick Persons, and now Nick’s got grandkids. Partnering with Skydance to bring this story to a new generation is exactly the kind of move CubeVision was built for, and I am excited for the new partnership.”
‘Are They Gone Yet?’ is written by Chris Hazzard and Mike Fontana. The film is produced by Broken Road Productions and CubeVision, with Ice Cube, Todd Garner and Jeff Kwatinetz serving as producers. Ben Hurwitz and Lauren Gennawey will executive produce.
