Imani Nia Robinson Finalizes Talented '3 Blind Mice' Writers Room; Mack Wilds Joins As Staff Writer
Imani Nia Robinson has officially announced that the writers’ room for her highly anticipated independent drama series, 3 Blind Mice, has been finalized. The writers’ room is set to open on July 17, when the creative team will begin completing the scripts for the series’ first season.
Robinson also revealed that actor, writer, and musician Tristan “Mack” Wilds has joined the project as a staff writer, bringing another dynamic voice to the creative team.
The announcement marks the culmination of a rigorous seven-month search that included reviewing hundreds of submissions and interviewing an exceptionally talented pool of writers from across the industry. According to Robinson, the overwhelming response made the selection process both inspiring and incredibly challenging, with countless outstanding applicants showcasing remarkable storytelling abilities.
Each writer chosen for the room was required to submit both an original pilot script and a 3 Blind Mice spec script, demonstrating not only their craft but also their understanding of the series’ vision. Robinson noted that every selected writer brought a distinct perspective, fresh creativity, and an authentic voice that will help shape the world of 3 Blind Mice.
Robinson expressed confidence that the writers’ room will be vibrant, collaborative, and reflective of the diversity within the Black experience—a central goal she envisioned when creating the series.
With production continuing to gain momentum, Robinson believes 3 Blind Mice has the opportunity to make Baltimore proud while helping redefine the landscape of Black television. She hopes the project will demonstrate that independent filmmakers can produce groundbreaking work, build sustainable careers, and succeed on their own terms.
Committed to creating opportunities for emerging talent both in front of and behind the camera, Robinson closed the announcement by thanking the series’ supporters, collaborators, and growing creative team, adding, “Watch us work!”
