BAFTA Award-winning actor John Boyega is set to appear in the upcoming documentary ‘Damilola Taylor: The Last 24 Hours,’ which examines the tragic killing of the Nigerian-born 10-year-old Damilola Taylor in Peckham, southeast London, on November 27, 2000.
The film will explore the final hours of the young boy’s life before he was fatally stabbed near his home—an event that sparked national outrage and a public reckoning around knife crime, and continues to resonate more than two decades later.
Peckham-raised actor John Boyega, who was among the last people to see Taylor before his death, will offer previously unheard testimony alongside close friends and family, shedding light on the events surrounding the tragedy and its lasting impact on their lives.
‘Damilola Taylor: The Last 24 Hours’ (tentative title) is directed by double Grierson Award-winning Alex Thomas, with Becky Cadman serving as executive producer and BAFTA winner Nelson Adeosun producing. The documentary will air on the BBC.
