After more than a decade on Chicago P.D., LaRoyce Hawkins is reportedly leaving the NBC police drama during its upcoming 14th season. Hawkins, who has portrayed Officer Kevin Atwater since the series premiered in 2014, is expected to make his final appearance within the first two or three episodes following the season premiere on October 7.
The series is reportedly searching for a new series regular to join the cast, signaling another major change for the long-running drama. Hawkins becomes the latest original cast member to depart, following previous exits by actors including Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos.
Atwater’s storyline in Season 13 hinted that a departure could be coming. After reconnecting with Officer Tasha Fox, the relationship took a life-changing turn when she revealed she was pregnant with his child. The development suggests Atwater may leave Chicago to begin a new chapter with his growing family in Miami, while still leaving the door open for a future return.
Chicago P.D. returns for Season 14 on Wednesday, October 7.
