Luke James is returning to Broadway this fall! The three-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and ‘The Chi’ actor—who made his Broadway debut in 2021 in Keenan Scott II’s ‘Thoughts of a Colored Man’—will join the cast of ‘Wanted’ alongside previously announced cast members Solea Pfeiffer, Liisi LaFontaine, and Ledisi.
Formerly titled ‘Gun & Powder,’ ‘Wanted’ is set in 1893 Texas and follows Black twin sisters Mary and Martha Clarke, who pass for white while on the run in a desperate attempt to save their mother and their family’s legacy. James will play Elijah, while Solea Pfeiffer stars as Mary Clarke and Liisi LaFontaine portrays Martha Clarke. The 16-time Grammy-nominated R&B legend Ledisi rounds out the ensemble as Tallulah Clarke. The musical features a book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the real Sisters Clarke, with music by Ross Baum.
‘Wanted’ will play the James Earl Jones Theatre, with previews beginning October 15 before the official opening on November 8. Obie winner and Tony nominee Stevie Walker-Webb directs, with choreography by Chelsey Arce.
