Lionsgate has picked up Ride or Die, a romantic buddy action-comedy set to star Marlon Wayans and Keke Palmer.
The film follows by-the-book robbery detective Martin Banks and fearless narcotics cop Tami Moore, an unlikely duo forced to team up after a massive stash of dangerous opioids is stolen from a pharmaceutical vault, threatening to hit the streets of Chicago. Described by Wayans as a mix of When Harry Met Sally with high-stakes action, the project blends romance, comedy, and crime.
Wayans co-wrote the script with Rick Alvarez, with both producing under their Ugly Baby banner. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher will produce through Original Film, while Palmer and her mother Sharon Palmer are in talks to executive produce.
Wayans continues to stay busy, recently appearing in Him from Jordan Peele and reuniting with the original cast for a new installment of Scary Movie. Meanwhile, Palmer is coming off a strong run that includes I Love Boosters, premiering at South by Southwest, and her Emmy-winning work on Password.
On the production side, Original Film continues to expand its slate with projects like Highlander directed by Chad Stahelski, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and upcoming television content including the next season of The Boys.
