Michael Ealy Joins Matt Dillon And Will Patton In MGM+’s ‘The Magnificent Seven’ Series Remake
Michael Ealy is set to star alongside Matt Dillon and Will Patton in Tim Kring’s reimagining of the 1960 western classic ‘The Magnificent Seven.’ The eight-episode series, produced for MGM+, is expected to begin production in June 2026.
Set in the 1880s, the series follows seven flawed mercenaries determined to do the right thing after being hired to protect a peaceful Quaker village targeted by a ruthless landowner. As the team prepares for battle, they must grapple with the moral conflict of using violence to defend a community whose faith is centered on nonviolence. The series will also explore the characters’ backstories, highlighting the personal struggles that lead them to this life-changing mission.
Ealy will play Vin Tanner, a former Pullman porter who turned to a life of crime and is now searching for a more principled path. Dillon stars as the crew’s leader, Chris Adams, while Patton portrays a newly created character.
Kring wrote the script and will executive produce alongside Donald De Line, Lawrence Mirisch, and Bruce Kaufman. The series is produced by MGM+ Studios and MGM Television Studios, and will stream on MGM+ while airing on the network’s premium linear channel across the United States, United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and Chile.
