The bags are packed, and the trip is officially underway! Tasha Smith’s upcoming feature comedy ‘Women Like Us,’ starring Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams, and Vivica A. Fox, is now in production, Netflix confirmed on Threads.
The original comedy centers on a recently widowed woman who is whisked away to the Hamptons by her lifelong best friends and sister on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. What begins as a getaway turns into a reckoning with grief, marriage, and the sisterhood that has held them together for decades—along with a timely reminder that dreams do not come with an expiration date.
Ali Kinney penned the screenplay, with additional writing by Tracy Oliver. The project marks the first collaboration between MACRO Film Studios and Higher Ground, with Michelle Obama and Charles D. King serving as executive producers alongside producers James Lopez, Poppy Hanks, Anikah McLaren, and Mark R. Wright.
