The bells are ringing for Sheldon Candis’ upcoming boxing drama, ‘They Fight.’ Check out the newly unveiled poster featuring André Holland, Wendell Pierce, Samira Wiley, Anthony B. Jenkins, and Toussaint Francois Battiste.
Based on the 2018 documentary of the same name, the film follows Walt Manigan (Holland), a reformed ex-convict and skilled boxer fighting to rebuild his family. His journey leads him to a struggling D.C. youth recreation center on the verge of closing, where he works alongside seasoned Coach Slim (Pierce) to mentor the neighborhood’s rising talent. But the stakes rise when the gym’s two top young fighters—and best friends (Jenkins and Battiste)—must compete head-to-head for a single, coveted spot on the U.S. Junior Olympic Team.
The impressive ensemble cast also includes J. Alphonse Nicholson, Andre Royo, Mykelti Williamson, Tory J. Malone, Tinashe Kajese-Bolden, and Amanda Warren.
‘They Fight’ is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 8, followed by its streaming release on July 17 on Hulu on Disney+.
