Newton Mayenge has landed a major leading role in the upcoming romantic drama The Other Side of Fame alongside Sveva Alviti.
Directed by Erik Bernard, the film is scheduled to be presented at the Cannes Film Festival 2026 on May 17 at the Italian Pavilion.
Mayenge stars as Justin, an elusive American who sparks a complicated romance with Rachel, played by Alviti. The story explores the tension between celebrity, ambition, and genuine connection against the backdrop of the South of France.
The actor continues building momentum following his role as NBA legend Jim Chones in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. The cast also includes Diana Madison, Lupe Cambiasso, Scott Angie, Saro Emirez, Sara Pallini, Yvan Lecuyer, Kenton Dyck, and Crystal Neault-Lount.
Production for The Other Side of Fame is expected to premiere in Cannes May 17.
