Nia Long has joined the cast of Get Lite, the upcoming Paramount film marking Teyana Taylor’s feature directorial debut. The movie stars Storm Reid and Ceyair Wright, who plays a gifted dance student whose life changes after discovering love, friendship and a sense of belonging in New York City’s subway dance scene. Reid portrays the young woman who encourages him to embrace new possibilities.
Long reunites with Reid following their collaboration on the 2023 thriller Missing. The film also features Leslie Odom Jr., Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Jodie Turner-Smith, Asante Blackk, Woody McClain, Tylil James and Khayr Bullock.
Currently filming in New York City, Get Lite is written by Maurice Williams from Eric Gross’ screenplay, which landed on the Black List in 2020. Paramount has scheduled the film for a theatrical release on August 20, 2027.
Reid will also produce alongside Kenya Barris and Anni Weisband of Khalabo Ink Society, Robyn Simpson of A Seed & Wings Productions, and Bill Karesh of Offbrnd. Taylor and Courtney “Coco” Gilbert will produce through their banner, The Aunties.
Long, who recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, continues to build on her extensive film and television career. She most recently appeared in Michael, the biographical film about music legend Michael Jackson.
Her upcoming projects include Netflix’s Don’t Ever Wonder, which she will executive produce and star in alongside Love Jones co-star Larenz Tate. She is also slated to appear with Ice Cube in Are We Done Yet?, the next installment in the Are We There Yet? franchise, and return for the upcoming Friday film.
