Proximity Media, founded by Ryan Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian, has signed an overall agreement with the streaming giant, Netflix, to develop and produce new television projects.
The deal follows the conclusion of Proximity Media’s previous television partnership with Disney and signals Netflix’s continued investment in top-tier creative talent.
Proximity Media has built an impressive television portfolio that includes Ironheart, Eyes of Wakanda, and the documentary series Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time. The company will continue working with Disney on previously announced projects, including a new The X-Files series and Southern Bastards.
The move comes on the heels of Coogler’s recent success with Sinners, starring Michael B. Jordan, which became one of the standout films of 2025 and further cemented Coogler’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s most influential storytellers.
In a joint statement, Coogler, Zinzi Coogler, and Ohanian said the partnership aligns with Proximity Media’s mission to create impactful, event-driven stories for global audiences. Netflix executives praised the company’s track record of producing innovative and culturally resonant content, expressing excitement about the projects to come.
With this new partnership, Netflix adds another powerhouse creator to its growing roster as Proximity Media prepares to expand its reach in the television space.
