Sir Idris Elba Returns Alongside Chris Hemsworth In ‘Extraction 3’ Now In Production For Netflix

Idris Elba is officially back in action as Extraction 3 has entered production in New South Wales, Australia. The actor reprises his role as the mysterious intelligence operative introduced in Extraction 2, joining returning stars Chris Hemsworth and Golshifteh Farahani for the next installment of Netflix’s blockbuster action franchise.

Directed by Sam Hargrave from a screenplay by David Weil, the third film promises to raise the stakes even higher. Hargrave recently shared that the creative team is pushing the boundaries of action filmmaking, aiming to deliver the franchise’s biggest and most ambitious set pieces to date.

Although Netflix is keeping the story under wraps, Elba’s return suggests his enigmatic character will play a much larger role in Tyler Rake’s next mission. Fans can also expect the globe-trotting action and adrenaline-fueled sequences that helped make the first two Extraction films worldwide streaming successes.

Extraction 3 is slated to premiere exclusively on Netflix in 2027 as the streamer continues expanding the franchise with additional films and the upcoming series Mercenary: An Extraction Series, starring Omar Sy.
