The American Film Institute (AFI) will honor Eddie Murphy with its 51st Life Achievement Award during a Gala Tribute on April 18 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, in support of the organization’s arts and education initiatives.

Now, audiences can watch the special when it premieres on Netflix May 31, marking the first time the prestigious ceremony will stream on the platform.

AFI is recognizing Murphy as one of the most commercially successful African American actors in motion picture history and among the industry’s top five box office performers overall, with a five-decade career that has shaped comedy and film.
