Showtime’s hit drama The Chi is expanding its cast one last time as the series heads into its highly anticipated eighth and final season.
Six new recurring guest stars have officially joined the final chapter of the acclaimed South Side Chicago drama. The new additions include Biko Eisen-Martin, Laila Odom, Darryl Dunning II, Liza Jessie Peterson, Anthony B. Jenkins, and Akilah A. Walker.
In addition to the new cast members, The Chi will also see two familiar faces take on larger roles in Season 8. Hannaha Hall, who portrays Tiffany “Tiff” Johnson, and Jason Weaver, who plays Rashaad “Shaad” Marshall, have both been promoted to series regulars for the final season. Their expanded presence suggests both characters will play a major role in the storylines leading up to the show’s conclusion.
Production on Season 8 officially began in early 2026, marking the start of what is expected to be an emotional farewell for one of television’s most culturally resonant ensemble dramas.
Created by Lena Waithe, The Chi has built a loyal following for its grounded portrayal of life, love, family, trauma, and survival on Chicago’s South Side. Over the years, the series has evolved into one of Showtime’s signature titles, giving a platform to both rising talent and established performers while centering Black stories with depth and authenticity.
