Tyler Perry is bringing his hit relationship drama franchise back with Why Did I Get Married Again?, which premieres exclusively on Netflix on September 9, 2026.
The third installment reunites many of the original cast members as they gather for a destination wedding celebrating the daughter of Marcus and Angela. As the longtime friends reconnect, they discover that their children are repeating many of the same relationship patterns, forcing the parents to reflect on the examples they’ve set and the choices they’ve made over the years.

Returning cast members include Tyler Perry, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Sharon Leal, and Lamman Rucker, while Taraji P. Henson joins the franchise in a new role. New additions also include Da’Vinchi and Armani Greer, with supporting performances from Laya DeLeon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Sydney Winbush, Everett Osborne, Charles L. Smith II, and Derrick A. King. Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, and Keesha Sharp will not appear in the film, although Michael Jai White has confirmed that Patricia’s storyline will receive closure.

Perry returns as writer, director, and producer under Tyler Perry Studios. Production was filmed in Lake Como, Italy, before moving to Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta for principal photography.
Ahead of the sequel’s debut, Netflix has also added the first two Why Did I Get Married? films to its U.S. library, giving fans the opportunity to revisit the franchise before the latest chapter arrives this September.
