Yahya Abdul-Mateen II To Star Opposite Vanessa Kirby In Apple Studios’ Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Liminal’
Emmy Award winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is set to star opposite Vanessa Kirby in the highly anticipated Apple Studios sci-fi thriller ‘Liminal,’ based on the 2022 graphic novel ‘Telepaths’ by J. Michael Straczynski, Steve Epting, and Brian Reber.
The project is part of AWA Studios’ ongoing push to adapt its original IP for film and television, with Apple backing the high-concept sci-fi thriller.
While the film’s plot remains undisclosed, the original story centers on an electromagnetic disturbance that grants telepathic abilities to a tenth of the world’s population. Newly telepathic Boston police officers are tasked with tracking down a wrongly convicted prisoner who emerges as a hero and leader among telepaths attempting to escape a world where their powers make them targets. The future depends on whether trust can be forged between the two sides.
‘Liminal’ will be directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Justin Rhodes. Zach Studin will produce for AWA Studios, alongside Kevin Walsh and Patrick McNamara via The Walsh Company, as well as Juliet Kirby.
Executive producers include Ray Angelic, along with Straczynski, Epting, and Reber.
